Roja is a beautiful girl with a cute personality. Roja had come to live with me in October 2010. Since I was going to field events with her Grandma Annie and her Daddy, Lewis, I brought her along and entered her in the events also. She quickly earned her Junior Hunter title and after getting her used to the blank pistol by teaching her to chase birds (something she initially did not do and wishing she could give a few pointers to her grandma and dad!), she began to be a snappy, happy huntress. She uses her nose and gets that happy hunting tail as she swiftly covers ground. To my surprise, at the Emerald Coast Vizsla Club’s Field Trial in December in Milton, FL, Roja won three blue ribbons in a day! Between the last two braces, she only had a break of 20 minutes. The judges’ comments were that she had two beautiful natural honors (her firsts), she hunted with purpose and enthusiasm the whole time and she did a natural stop to flush. I was told later that all the judges did not know between themselves that she was earning blue ribbons in all three events that day – what an honor for Roja. Roja went to her first Vizsla Specialty in January for the TBVC and won her 12-18 month class as well as won every day in that class except for one, but her sister, Gypsy, won that day and finished her show CH! “Roja” used to be called “Rosie,” but is now in her new home, with a new life and a new name! She is blessed to live with Jim and Linda Busch in IL, where she can hunt to her hearts desire. Roja, I think, will continue to amaze us as she moves through life. So watch out world, Roja is here!
