Gina has a special place in my heart, because she is my Cid’s sister. Together, they competed in the breed ring and finished their show championships on the same day! Gina’s owner, Pat O’Keefe, was also a dear friend of mine and adored his Gina. He was an avid hunter, hunting not only pheasants, but ducks as well. This was quite a feat for a short-haired dog living in Minnesota, but Gina was a die-hard hunting dog. She hunted whatever terrain was asked of her, whether
land or water. When Gina was older, Pat purchased two Wirehaired Vizslas from Canada, as they were more appropriate for his type of hunting in the north. At my home, I whelped a litter of Gina’s that was sired by CH Valhi’s Stick To Your Guns CD VC HOF. Gina was the epitome of a lady. She was sweet and regal, and I had a hard time giving her back! It was a very sad time for me, when
a number of years ago, I heard that Pat had succumbed to cancer. Both he and Gina are cherished fondly in my memories.
