In a word, Piqua is stunning. Her look, type, conformation, personality and style are exactly what I strive for in a female. I have been around Vizslas for 50 years and can honestly say that Piqua could quite possibly be the prettiest female I have ever seen.
Piqua is adored by her owner, Mike Calderone (Upland Vizslas), and lives the life every bird dog dreams of. She was raised in Michigan where she hunted ruffed grouse and pheasants regularly. In 2008, Mike took a job working on an Indian reservation on the prairies of Montana and hunts more than seems fair to most of us. Piqua has proven her skill on Hungarian partridge, sharp-tailed grouse, and sage grouse but her favorite seems to be pheasant. Piqua is powerful and runs with a passion. She is always ready to hunt and show her stuff.
Piqua spent much of the winter with me in 2007-2008 and we had a blast playing, training, and winning dog shows – most notably when she won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club Specialty. After she returned home, Piqua also won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Vizsla Club of Michigan Specialty! Piqua truly is a special girl through and through. I hope to see Piqua again sometime in late 2009 or early 2010. We have plans to breed her to an impressive male before she takes the ring again at the 2010 Vizsla Club of America Nationals in Wisconsin.
In the meantime, Piqua will be lighting the northern prairies on fire and finding birds for her loving owner. |
