Tisza was a beautiful bitch with a sweet temperament and was a superb hunting dog. She finished her show championship in very few shows and had some memorable wins along the way. At the Twin Cities Vizsla Club’s first match in 1980, Tisza began by winning her 6-9 months puppy class, then went Best Puppy, and for the finale, won Best in Match! She also won the Bred By Exhibitor class at the Vizsla Club of America’s Nationals in Nebraska in 1981. I entered her once in an Open Puppy Field Trial stake in Iowa, and she won a 4th place ribbon. I did not continue to pursue Field Trials, and instead, we spent our time upland bird hunting. Tisza was an excellent bird dog with a keen nose, a stylish point and a wonderful retrieve. She spent her life hunting ruffed grouse, pheasants and quail in Minnesota and Nebraska. Unfortunately, she died at the tender age of nine, after being diagnosed with hermangiosarcoma. The week before Tisza died, we took her grouse hunting for her last chance to do what she loved best - to hunt. I felt peace knowing that she had this opportunity once again before she left our world.
